People travelling through 15th Ave and Turret Rd should expect delays later this month as overnight road investigations get underway.
Tauranga City Council said the work will begin on October 11 between Cameron Rd and the Hairini Causeway as part of the wider 15th Ave to Welcome Bay upgrade project.
The investigations will be carried out over five nights across two weeks, between 6pm and 6am, to reduce disruption to daytime traffic, the council said in a media release.
Crews will dig about 14 test holes along the route to assess the condition of the existing road pavement and help determine what future maintenance or reconstruction work may be required.
The council said the holes will be cut using electric breakers to minimise noise, before being sampled, refilled and compacted. About three test holes are expected to be completed each night.
Traffic management will include single-lane closures and stop/go controls to allow work to be completed safely while maintaining access for motorists.
