The cyclist who died in a crash in Katikati last month has now been named by police.

Mel Beetham, 76-years-old, of Katikati, died in the incident on Park Road on August 19, shortly before 1pm.

In a statement, police confirm that investigations remain underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

'Police can now release the name of the cyclist who died in a collision with a vehicle on Park Road, Katikati on August 19,” says a police spokesperson.

'He was 76-year-old Mel Beetham, of Katikati.

'Police extends our sympathies to his family.

'Investigations into the crash are ongoing.”
