One person has died following a single vehicle crash on State Highway ,1 Turangi.
A car left the road and hit a tree at around 11pm last night, says a statement from police.
'The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.”
The road was initially closed while the scene was examined and re-opened shortly after 3am.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing, says the statement.
