Motorists are being warned to expect delays on State Highway 2, between Papamoa and Baypark.

A crash is reported to be blocking the left lane just after Sandhurst Drive.

The NZTA says people should expect delays and pass the scene with care.

Police have been called to the scene.

A police spokesperson says they were called to a two-vehicle crash at 10.20am.

"The location is SH2, Papamoa Beach, between Sandhurst Drive on-ramp and Maunganui Road, heaing into the Mount.

"One of the vehicles is off the road, but the other is blocking the lanes and will require towing."
