Mass traffic congestion is being predicted for State Highway 29, State Highway 2 and State Highway 25 today.

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency says traffic is expected to be busy westbound through the Lower Kaimai area from about 11am to 3pm.

"Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or consider travelling outside of this period."

The same advice is being given for SH25 in the Tairua area.

Heavy congestion is expected from about 10am through to midday.

Heavy traffic is also being predicted for SH2, between Waihi and Tauranga.

Waka Kotahi expects this to be from about midday to 4pm.

People are being asked to drive to the conditions.
