UPDATED: A car going down a bank on State Highway 2 is causing traffic chaos this afternoon.
A police spokesperson says police were advised at 4.20pm that a car had gone down "a bank" near the intersection of SH2 and Youngson Road.
The driver was the only occupant in the car and fortunately she only has moderate injuries.
A SunLive reader says traffic is backed up in both directions on the highway.
EARLIER: Reports are coming in of a crash on State Highway 2 near Omokoroa Road.
A Sunlive reader says emergency services are at the scene of a crash just south of the Omokoroa Road turn off.
He says traffic is at a standstill heading north.
Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency is advising that stop / go traffic management is in place between Barret Road and Omokoroa road.

Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area, says a Waka Kotahi statement.

I sound like a broken record........great to see the safety plasters and reduction in speed limits along this stretch of the SH2 are paying dividends......not!! There will always be accidents the whole time morons exist.

The Police need to start prosecuting these morons for causing rush hour chaos. It's quite easy for most people to stay on the road, but some, like this woman, struggle with the concept of a road.
