Tree felling works will take place on State Highway 2 this weekend.

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency says the works will be happening between Barrett Road and Te Karaka Drive on Saturday, March 6, between 7am and 1pm.

Works are being carried out on the weekend to minimise the impacts on traffic, says a spokesperson for the roading agency.

"Stop/Go traffic management will be in place with a 30km/h temporary speed limit. Minor delays are expected and our contractors will be actively working to minimise these as much as possible.

"Please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow directions of traffic management staff and signage."
