Police investigating a fatal crash in Mount Maunganui are appealing for information about a vehicle seen in the area at the time of the collision.

In a post on their Facebook page, Bay of Plenty Police are issuing a plea to anyone who may have seen a maroon coloured vehicle in the Arataki area on February 21.

Thirty-two-year-old Tauranga man Donald James Whare was killed when a car and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Exeter Street and Eversham Road at 2.15pm.

'A maroon vehicle was seen in the area immediately before the crash and police would like to speak to the occupants as they may be able to assist with our enquiries,” says a post on the Bay of Plenty & Taupo Police Facebook page.

'This vehicle was not involved in the crash.

'If anyone has any information which may assist they are asked to contact Police on 105 and quote file number 210221/8565.”
