The State Highway 2 Waihi to Tauranga Corridor Open Day planned for tomorrow is being postponed.
The open day was due to be held in Katikati, but with the region now being in COVID-19 alert level 2, Waka Kotahi Transport Agency has made the decision to delay it.
Under COVID-19 Alert Level 2, gatherings are restricted to 100 people or less.
"Our project partners and crew make up a large proportion of this number, which means fewer community members would be permitted into the event at any one time," says a spokesperson for the roading agency.
"To keep our staff, partners, stakeholders and the community safe, we will continue to monitor Alert Levels and announce a rescheduled date for the open day as soon as we're able.
"The rescheduled open day will be advertised in local media as well as via our regional Waka Kotahi social media accounts and on the SH2 Waihi to Tauranga corridor website: https://www.nzta.govt.nz/projects/sh2-waihi-to-tauranga-corridor/."
