A driver is reportedly in a serious condition after crashing into a power box in Mount Maunganui this morning.
Police were notified at 7.25am that a car had collided with a power box on Triton Avenue, says a police spokesperson.
The driver has been transported to hospital and is reportedly in a serious condition, they say.
'There is some clean-up required at the scene as there is oil leaking from the car.”
The power company has been notified and will attend to assess any damage to the power box, says the spokesperson.
It is unknown if power is out in the area as yet.

....this time it was a power box and not a family....what does it take to wake people up and realise there is a bigger problem here?..........
