Large tree falls on SH29, causing traffic delays

State Highway 29 is partially blocked due to a fallen tree.

A large tree has come down on State Highway 29 in the Lower Kaimai range, blocking three of the four lanes near Valley View Rd.

The incident was reported to Police and Fire Emergency NZ around 7.40pm.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to pass the scene with care.

and probably with dire consequences. I walked up Waihi Rd the other day and the big tall ??Macrocarpa trees near Oak Lane are very precariously swaying on a very steep bank. I do not know how Council can let these go. I even took photos to show my dear Wife. If (when) these come down across such a busy road it's not going to be pretty. Needs some urgent attention.
