Police can now name the man who died following a crash on State Highway 29, Lower Kaimai Range.

He was 46-year-old Kevin Erskine-Shaw, of Hamilton, says a police spokesperson.

Police were alerted to the car vs truck crash between Soliders Road and Valley View Road at around 5.23am on Monday.

"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."
