Reports are coming in of a crash on State Highway 2, near Te Puna.
A SunLive reader reports there is a two-vehicle crash on the highway, near Snodgrass Road.
"Traffic is backed-up in the area."
According to Google Live Traffic reporting, traffic is stalled on both sides of SH2.
A police spokesperson says a two-car crash was reported at the intersection of Te Puna Quary Road and SH2 about 11am.
"There are reportedly moderate injuries.
"One lane is blocked."

Well NZTA, Council and Police....reducing the speed limit really prevented crashes on the SH2 didn't it!! The speed limit was NEVER the issue, it's the moron Kiwi drivers who don't pay attention to other road users. Put the limit back up because the approach taken to reduce accidents through a reduced speed limit is clearly not going to work. The Police also need to wake up to the fact that accidents are an inevitable part of life.....every country around the world has road traffic accidents!!

There is no way that anyone is going stop using their smart phone whilst driving no matter what penalty is put in place. Mobile phone usage whilst driving in this area is rampant - mostly by drivers displaying a "L" plate.

There are 11 STOP Signs on all 11 Intersections between Omokoroa Road and Te Puna BP Fuel Station. There are single digit % of drivers that STOP when nothing is on the road, minor number that STOP when traffic is bearing down on them and a good 70% that risk it all to save the split second it takes to STOP, have a proper look and make a proper judgement of the conditions, numbers and vehicle speeds. Even I am tempted to leap out because I know there is massive probability I will be Rear Ended AGAIN by the the person behind me concentrating on what's to their right and not whats in front at an intersection because they have every intention of making a rush for the gap. ROAD RULES people. There is a difference between STOP & GIVEWAY.
