It's all go in Pāpāmoa this morning with a bright sunny day ahead for the Pak'N Save Pāpāmoa Christmas in Toyland Santa Parade 2020.

'We have an amazing 54 floats in total and an incredible amount of effort has gone into each and every one,” says Pāpāmoa Unlimited marketing and events manager Julie Manktelow.

'Join us for the magic as we come together to fly our Christmas spirit after a pretty tough year.”

The parade begins at 10.30am but prior to that the Tauranga Ulysses Club are running the SOS Fundraiser for TECT Rescue Helicopter and Tauranga St Johns between Papamoa Plaza and McDonalds. There are 150 motorcycles on display with a donation barbecue, fun activities for kids and badges for sale.

The club are also driving a Toy Run for the Tauranga Hospital Children's ward and ask everyone to bring a new toy along to donate at the Ulysses tent today.

The parade will run from 10.30 am to 11.30 am. The winning floats will have rosettes displayed on their windows. The judges of the floats this year are Papamoa Pak 'N Save owner Rob McGregor and Bay of Plenty MP Todd Muller.

This year's parade will start moving from Alexander Pl on Dickson Rd and make its way onto Domain Rd and into the Papamoa Plaza by the Island.

'It will wrap around the far side of the Plaza this year so you will be able to view the floats from near the new office blocks,” says Julie.

'You can't enter any side streets off Papamoa Beach Road on to Dickson this year. All side streets from Alexander have road closures.

'Domain Road will close at 10am until the parade finishes opening shortly after and there will be event fencing right through the Plaza part of the trail for safety.

'We recommend parking on Papamoa Beach Road, the neighbouring streets to Dickson like Topaz or at the Plaza.”

Many of the floats will feature children, and come from local schools, businesses and organisations keen to let everyone know who they are and what service they provide. The Cave will be giving away $5,000 in Cave credit and others will also be giving away promotional material.

From 12.30pm – 2pm, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Marshall, Olaf and Santa will be in Papamoa Plaza and available to take photos with everyone.

'Santa will be in the grotto by the Warehouse with a selfie booth for you and loved ones. We will also have the amazing Brydie Thompson taking snaps too.

'We have some cool surprises for you tomorrow!! Thank everyone for making us proud to be Pāpāmoa,” says Julie.
