Witnesses sought to BOP fatal crash

Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal motorcycle crash in the Bay of Plenty.

David Jonathan (Hapai) Kanuta died as a result of the crash on Bridge Street, near the Waioeka Bridge, just before 6.30pm.

He was 49-year-old.

'It was the end of the week and there were quite a few people travelling through the area at the time,” says Sergeant Chris Howard.

Police closed the road for several hours to allow the serious crash unit to investigate the scene.

It was re-opened around 11pm.

some motor cycle riders are on a suicide mission.I was coming home from Rotorua on saturday,via Pyes pa,driving a white car with day driving lights on and no more than 20 meters ahead abike overtook the car ahead of me on double yellow lines.If I didnt swerve I would have had my first motor bike victim.
