UPDATE: Hundreds of homes are without power in the Western Bay this afternoon following a crash in Pyes Pa.
According to the Powerco website, power went out at 3.21pm with 695 properties affected.
The expected restoration time is 5.30pm.
Powerco says the cause of the outage is a vehicle striking a power pole.
Earlier: Reports are coming in of a crash on Pyes Pa Road.
A police spokesperson says a vehicle hit a power pole and retaining wall on Pyes Pa Road.
There are no injuries and the road is not blocked, says the spokesperson.
A person at the scene says a van has hit a power pole, and the pole is broken and hanging over the roof of a house.
She says emergency services are at the scene.

How many is that this month. It either a power pole or a tree jumping out in front of cars. Please slow down and leave your phone alone while driving.
