Resurfacing works will take place on State Highway 2 Takitimu Drive, south of the Eleventh Ave overpass, from Sunday night.
The work will be completed overnight on Sunday, November 1 and Monday, November 2 to reduce the impact on motorists.
Minor delays are expected and motorists are advised to take care, plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.
A lane closure and 50km per hour temporary speed limit will be in place from 7pm – 5am over the two nights. The road will be open from 5am – 7pm under normal operating conditions.
These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty to ensure the safety and resilience of the state highway network, says NZTA.
'If you are travelling at these times please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow directions of traffic management staff and signage.”
In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work will be postponed, advises NZTA.
