One person has sustained moderate injuries following a collision with a train.

Emergency services were called to the incident in Matapihi about 5.30am.

A police spokesperson says officers were notified of a collision involving a train and a pedestrian on Hoskins Road.

'The pedestrian sustained moderate to minor injuries and was treated by ambulance.”

The scene is now clear and the train has been moved on.
