The Bethlehem Coachlines Baywide secondary schools' championship reaches the halfway point this weekend with some surprising results.
The battle for a top spot remains close after John Paul College held Rotorua Boys' High School 2nd XV to a draw, while Eastern Bay lost to current champions Te Whare Kura o Mauao due to injuries and illness.
Bethlehem College, who hosted Rotorua Boys' High School 2nd XV and took the win against Aquinas College last week, will need to step up their game to make a comeback against Raukura.
"Kieran Botha will no doubt be smarting at last week's surprise result and we can expect his boys to come firing on all cylinders this week as they look to secure a spot in the top four,” says a Bay of Plenty secondary schools championship spokesperson.
Coach Kevin Schuler says he is under no illusions as to how tough the match will be but believes his boys have what it takes to make it a competitive match.
