Multiple injuries at trail riding event

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on back to back to flights to an organised farm/trail ride motorcycle event on the Highway 22 Road near Naike, west of Huntly.

The first flight was for a 42-year-old Hamilton man, who received chest injuries when he crash off his bike.

He was flown to Waikato Hospital where upon unloading him we were notified of another man, says a rescue helicopter spokesperson.

'A 47-year-old old from Warkworth, had a suspected spinal after crashing. He was also airlifted to hospital.

'Whilst treating that man at the event, another rider presented with serious back pain and he was taken by road ambulance staff to Waikato Hospital.”

Past time to pay

It is 'past time' that the those who choose to put themselves at serious risk, just as in the workplace, pay! Our recreational choices are our choice and it is unreasonable to expect others to 'pick up the tab'.
