Two-car collision in Te Puke

UPDATED 1.15PM: Motorists are being warned the northbound lane of Old Te Puke Highway remains closed following a two-car crash.

A police spokesperson says they were notified by ambulance of the crash which occurred at the intersection of Old Te Puke Highway and No. 1 Road at 12.23pm.

'The information we received was a station wagon and van, and possibly a third vehicle, were involved in the crash which resulted in the northbound lane being blocked.

'A police unit is at the scene and council has been contacted to clear the debris from the northbound lane.”

The spokesperson was unable to confirm if anyone had sustained injuries as a result of the crash.

EARLIER:

Emergency services are currently responding to a multi-vehicle crash in Te Puke.

Photos sent into SunLive show two vehicles which appear to have collided head-on opposite near the intersection of Old Te Puke Highway and No. 1 Road shortly before 12.30pm.

At this stage it is not known if anyone has sustained injuries as a result of the crash.

A new layout at that junction. Too many options. Too many white lines. God, it's confusing. Don't worry about the "stop sign", it's optional. Go for it.
