This afternoon from 2.30-4.30pm, Tauranga's Red Square is being turned into a giant chalk garden and the public are invited along to help ‘plant' it.
Starting at 1.30pm, Colouring Book C.I.T.Y organiser Lillybeth Melmoth is drawing an outline on the cobblestones opposite Bravo.
The young at heart – in other words, all ages – are invited to draw their own garden creations with chalk supplied, and colour them in to finish the garden.
Colouring Book C.I.T.Y (Colouring in Tauranga Your Way) uses art inspired by NZ children's storybooks. Today, the inspiration is from ‘Uncle Glen's Cabbages', by Garry Carter, illustrated by Tauranga artist Sharon O'Callaghan, who also painted Memorial Park's Humpty Dumpty.
Come into our city to enjoy book readings of 'Uncle Glen's Cabbages', be in to win spot prizes for participation, and get a special sticker (limited to first 100). Chalk is provided!
This is the first event for Colouring Book C.I.T.Y. with two more planned in January and April. https://www.facebook.com/colouringbookCITY
