A three-vehicle crash sparked an emergency services callout in Welcome Bay.

Firefighters from Mount Maunganui and Pāpāmoa Beach firefighters were called to the crash at the intersection of Welcome Bay and Waitao Rds at 2.45pm.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Ryan Geen said an initial report was a car-on-car crash with multiple patients.

“Crews later arrived and found it was three cars involved.

“Police and ambulance are now in attendance.”

Geen said there was a “partial road closure” in place.

According to Google’s Live Traffic Reporting, the road is clear but some traffic delays remain.

A police spokesperson said they were also called to the crash.

“It appears one person has sustained moderate injuries.”

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they responded to the crash with one rapid response vehicle.

“Three patients declined assessment, and one patient was treated at the scene, in moderate condition.”
