Oil patches in Karangahake Gorge

Motorists are being urged to use caution when travelling on State Highway 2 through the Karangahake Gorge today.

Posting to their Facebook page this morning, a Waikato District Police spokesperson says there's large patches of oil through the gorge, mostly in the Waihi bound lane.

'Please adjust your speed and drive to the conditions - take care if you're travelling through here,” the post reads.

Hauraki District Council workers are currently in the gorge attempting to clean up the oil patches through the use of an industrial absorbent.
