Bay of Plenty Police is urging motorists to avoid non-essential travel in the Taupo/Turangi area.

Snow is making driving condition difficult and more snow is predicted this afternoon.

Police is currently considering closing the Eastern Arterial Link in Taupo due to the weather conditions.

Where possible police is asking motorists to delay travel until the weather passes.
