In the north of the peninsula, flooding has been reported along State Highway 25 just north of the 309 Road turnoff and the agency asks motorists to either avoid or delay travelling through the area.
To the south near Hikuai, there are reports of surface flooding along Hikuai Settlement Road near the intersection with SH25 and the agency is asking motorists travelling south to drive with care.
Southbound motorists are also being asked to drive with care when travelling on SH25 near Totara, south of Thames, following reports of surface of water on the road.
Surface water is also present on Normandby Road/SH2 in Paeroa which is affecting eastbound traffic, while westbound traffic is also being affected by surface water on Seddon Ave/SH2 on the outskirts of Waihi.
The wild weather has also knocked over a power pole on Townsend Road near Hikutaia. Powerco contractors are at the scene and motorists are being urged to take care when driving through the area.

urging motorists to drive on good tyres with the wet weather upon us. Why do they think there are so many loss of control accidents as soon as it rains? Tyre quality and condition will have a much greater effect than the 4 km/h speed tolerance.
