Harbour Bridge crash delays

UPDATED 9.20AM: Mount Maunganui bound traffic can expect delays crossing the Harbour Bridge, following a nose to tail crash on the Tauranga side about 8.40am.

One car will need to be towed from the crash scene. Picture: Bruce Barnard.

The impact occurred just past the Chapel Street on-ramp. Mount bound traffic is backing up.

Emergency services are at the scene, and are arranging for one of the vehicles involved to be towed.

There are no injuries, say police. The collision is causing delays, which are not expected to be cleared until about 10am.

Police would like the public to exercise patience and consider an alternative route, says Bay of Plenty District Command centre Senior Sergeant Steven Shaw.

Police expect delays to clear by 10am.

Here We Go Again

What was it this time - Friday Blues, admiring the view, talking on phone, putting makeup on, drinking coffee, etc, etc. The Police must now have a great collection of excuses for all the accidents this week. Have an at fault accident then be directed by the courts to have a driving test/assessment - now that may make people think twice about concentrating on their driving. . . .

come on people

This is beyond a joke! Don't cross the white line in the middle of the road and don't hit other cars on the road. Simple! why do people find these two basic things so hard to do!

It's as simple as that. Still people talking on phones and texting, I see it all the time. Throw in eating a pie and having a drink while looking at the scenery

too easy to criticise from an armchair and jump to conclusions, very often it pays to have ALL facts first. Wonder how the Honda driver feels reading some of the comments below, and how some commenters feel, now the facts are to hand - Bridge crash vehicle found 'A grey Honda was rear-ended by another vehicle that left the scene.' (http://www.sunlive.co.nz/news/117464-bridge-crash-vehicle-found.html ). Hope the victim of this has a better day today. Wonder if we
