A courier van has crashed into a parked truck on the Paeroa Kopu Rd just south of Puriri this morning.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Scott Osmond says the driver of the van was trapped inside his vehicle following the crash that took place at 10.10am.

Fire crews from Puriri were dispatched to the scene of the accident along with ambulance and police staff.

'The driver of the van was trapped and we used our rescue equipment to cut him out.”

Scott says the courier van driver suffered moderate injuries. He was unable to confirm whether the truck's driver had been inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

There are currently no reported road blockages.
