On Saturday, they brushed aside the challenge of Rangataua in the early game at the Tauranga Domain when they defeated visitors 69-15 in a fast paced encounter. Tauranga Sports Matt Ensor was adjudged his side's player of the player of the day. Heading into the last qualifying round next weekend, Tauranga Sports have already accumulated enough points to book a berth in the title decider on Anzac Day.

Mount Maunganui led all the way in the curtain raiser at Maramatanga Park against Te Puna. The visitors turned a 41-5 advantage at half time into a solid 67-10 victory. One player to shine was Mount fullback Ross Cowdrey who ran in the three tries and added four conversions from four attempts.

Te Puke Sports sit in second place in the title race after beating Greerton Marist 60-13 at Murray Salt Stadium in Te Puke. The Te Puke second fifteen should make the playoff for the local championship title if they get past bottom placed Rangataua next weekend.

The Western Bay Division One first past competition is wide open after the first three rounds have been completed. A battle of attrition took place at Grenada Park where hosts Arataki won a close encounter with Rangiuru. After leading 8-3 at the half way stage of the match, Arataki went on to post a hard fought 15-8 win. Arataki number eight Rory Dickson played a big part in the Arataki victory with a really solid match.

Judea moved to the top of the standings when they ran away from Eastern Districts winning 66-10, with Katikati posting a solid 44-12 win over Papamoa.
