With the return of the Repco Beach Hop there will be a number of road closures in and around Whangamata this weekend.
The Thames-Coromandel District Council says road closures will take place today and Saturday, and have released and when those closures will be in effect.

The road closures taking place in Whangamata this weekend are:
Friday, March 27: 7am – 12pm
- Graham St from Ocean Rd to Esplanade Dr
- Esplanade Dr from Lowe St to end of road
- Lowe St from Ocean Rd to Esplanade Dr
Controlled access will be provided to affected residents who live on the sections of closed road.
Saturday, March 28: 7am – 7pm
- Esplanade Dr from Lowe St to end
- Lowe St from Ocean Rd to Esplanade Dr
Beverly Terrace from Graham St to Lowe St, closed to public with controlled access provided to residents.
Saturday, March 28: 7am – 7.30pm
Port Rd completely closed from northern side of Ocean Rd/Port Rd roundabout to southern side of Hunt Rd/Port Rd roundabout.
Port Rd closed at each intersection with:
- Ocean Rd
- Lincoln Rd
- Aicken Rd
- Casement Rd
- Hetherington Rd
- Hunt Rd
- Winifred Ave
Saturday, March 28: 10am – 11:30am
- Chartwell Ave from Charleston Ave to Port Rd
- Hunt Rd from western side of roundabout to eastern side Barbara Ave
- Winifred Rd from Port Rd to eastern side of Barbara Ave
- Barbara Ave from Hunt Rd to Ocean Rd
- Port Rd from Chartwell Ave to Hunt Rd
Controlled access to Port Rd from Hetherington Rd/Hunt Rd intersection to allow parade vehicles to use Hertherington Rd/Hunt Rd roundabout during parade only
During the periods of closure the following provision will be made for ordinary traffic which would otherwise use the streets: Detour via Martyn Rd and Mayfair Ave or SH25 Bypass.
