Surf lifesavers from all over are taking part in the Bay of Plenty Senior Championships to see who has what it takes to claim the top spot.

Surf lifesavers from U16 through to open grades will compete on both Saturday and Sunday at Papamoa Surf Club.

Teams are testing their speed and endurance in the two day competition.

This weekend's championships will give competitors an insight to what will be available at the 2015 State NZ Championships and the BP Rescue NZ Championships.
