This weekend the Nashi Festival 2015 returns to Te Puna, so if you're after an abundance of creativity and positive vibes then get your tickets today.
There are only 150 tickets available for the intimate festival that is being held at The Arty House overlooking the Wairoa River this Saturday and Sunday.
Festival organiser Tessa Mackenzie says the annual festival features workshops, live music, entertainment and performance art designed to nourish the mind, body and soul.
'The driving kaupapa (theme) is about sharing your abundance with others,” says Tessa. 'The festival originally began around the harvesting of the property's nashi orchard and then it extended to sharing what we didn't need for ourselves.
'Over time it then became about sharing of your own gifts, talents and skills, which is where the musicians, artists and workshops became involved.”
There will be 24 workshops held over the two days and they'll cover everything from permaculture to music and holistic health to community sustainability.
A great musical line-up has also been organised and features performers Monique Holden and Brandon Kawenga, Matiu Te Huki, the Mauao Contemporary Choir and Sweet Echo.
Joining those acts on stage will also be UK band Forleigh, who are currently touring New Zealand as part of their ‘D.I.Y Global local Tour'.
If you're planning on taking the children there will also be a huge range of activities to keep them smiling like a storytelling zone, yoga and art stations tied in with the theme of seasonal harvests.
Tessa says Eftpos facilities will be limited to non-existent at the festival, so if you have nothing to trade you can still purchase things like food, produce and service using good ol' fashion cash.
'We are also encouraging people to bring with them any excess home grown produce or good condition items like clothing at home to share,” she adds.
'There will be table setup for people to do trades at the festival, so money is fairly limited on what you can spend it on, like massages and food and drink.”
Festival goers can bring their own alcohol as it will not be sold onsite, but Tessa is asking people to remember the kaupapa of the event and to please be responsible and be considerate of others.
