World champion Reg Bamford of South Africa lost a match on Tuesday, giving him seven wins.

Another six players have also won seven of their best-of-three matches, including Chris and Jenny Clarke (Christchurch). The others are Shoukry Aziz, Mohamed Karem and Salah Hassan (Egypt) and Kevin Beard (Australia).

The final round of block play is being held today, with the knock-out phase of the competition due to start tomorrow at Mount Maunganui.

The top four in each of the eight blocks of ten players go through to the knock-out stage.
