Music lovers will scream ‘joy to the world' and know what love is when a trio of iconic classic rock artists play Whitianga this weekend.

And there will be nothing else left to do but go crazy when Heart, Foreigner, and Three Dog Night perform at the new Whitianga Waterways Arena this Sunday, from 1pm.

Presented by Greenstone Entertainment, it is part of a summer series which see the three legendary bands play Taupo on Saturday, Whitianga on Sunday, then Queenstown the following week.

Elephant Publicity publicist Bex Martelletti says the bands were currently in Taupo preparing for tomorrow night and while suffering jet lag they were very happy to be in New Zealand.

'They flew in this week and they're all safe and sound,” says Bex. 'We've heard from their agents and all of the artists are very much excited and looking forward to getting stuck into this summer concert tour.”

'Preparations leading up to Sunday's concert are going full bore at the moment, but everything is very much on schedule, it's all going smoothly and the venue is going to look amazing.”

Whitianga Waterways Arena is a purposely built concert site that can easily cater for up to 15,000 people, with big wide spaces allowing for plenty of seating for concert goers.

The backdrop is not too shabby either, with the waterways and the surrounding native bush providing a perfect scenery to enjoy an afternoon of classic rock.

'It'll be a really lovely family environment too,' says Bex. 'Children under 14 can enter for free, just as long as they're with a paying adult.

'You can bring down your own picnic too, we just ask you leave your own alcoholic drinks at home, but there will be plenty of great food and drinks on sales at the venue.”

If you haven't got your tickets yet Bex says there is still some left but you might want to get in quick to avoid any disappointment.

People living on the Coromandel will also have access to a limited number of local tickets at the cheaper rate of $89 plus booking fee.

These local Tickets are available from i-SITE's in Whitianga, Thames and Te Aroha, plus the Tairua and Pauanui Information Centres, as well as Info Plus Whangamata.

'We're feeling really good ahead of the concert, the weather forecast is looking perfect which is great so we're hoping locals and holidaymakers will make the most of the long weekend.”
