A man is being treated by St John Paramedics after the car he was in rear ended a school bus before crashing into a ditch in Katikati this afternoon.

Police, firefighters and St John Paramedics were called to the crash on Kauri Point Road at about 3.20pm.
A reporter at the scene says the elderly man is still in the car.
'No one on the bus was injured,” they said. 'There is no visible damage to the bus but the car has sustained significant damage.
'Police are letting traffic through as they deal with the crash.”

20 Km/h anywhere near a school bus. I suspect that speed had nothing to do with this sad event, But, it can't be stressed often enough and it should be very VIGOROUSLY ENFORCED by the police. 20 Km/h when passing a school bus IN EITHER DIRECTION.
