Police are investigating the cause of a two-car crash which saw part of Maunganui Road closed for a short time this afternoon.

The crash on Maunganui Road, 500m from the intersection with Clyde Street, was in the northbound lane.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says no one was injured in the crash.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.
