Mount Maunganui musician Georgia Lines is living proof that if you truly love music, you will work your fingers to the bone to succeed.
On Monday morning the 17-year-old released her debut single ‘Wannabe' and by 5pm it had reached number six on the New Zealand iTunes chart.

On the same day, Georgia unveiled her video clip for the song, which has since aired on channel Four and so far been viewed 2,866 times on YouTube.
'I'm pretty overwhelmed and there's a bit of mixed emotions,” says Georgia. 'Everything's happening all at once, especially with the song reaching number six on the iTunes chart.
'The response has been awesome, I've received texts and Facebook messages and people are sharing my Facebook posts and wanting their friends to buy the single.
'It's really cool and exciting to see all the support. I wasn't expecting this at all.”
At September's national final of the 2014 Smokefree Rockquest Georgia won the solo/duo section of the competition and was also presented with the Smokefree Women's Musicianship award.
As part of her prize package she won a $10,000 song and video grant from NZ On Air, plus a free trip to Fiji where she will perform with the other Rockquest winners.
Georgia says shooting the video, directed by Dave Thomson of Auckland's Imaginary Friends, was an amazing experience.
'What I loved was they took my ideas on board, developed them and created this concept for my video,” she says.
'It was a cool experience and a huge learning curve as well; making a video, recording a single and making things up as you go.
'What I find pretty encouraging is hearing that people are responding to not only the single but the video as well.”
This year has been a big balancing act for Georgia as she juggled her musical aspirations with the completion of her Year 13 studies at Bethlehem College, where she was head girl.
It has definitely been a tough one, she acknowledges.
'You're trying to figure out your priorities and what's important now, but at the same time you're trying to balance being organised and getting things in on time,” adds Georgia.
'It's been a challenge but I've been able to keep on top of everything, which has been hard but I've had a lot of support from my family, friends, the school, and that has been awesome.”
When asked what the future now holds for her, Georgia's reply is simple: 'Hard work.”
She's off to Fiji next month with the other Rockquest winners where they will spend seven days touring and playing gigs.
There are a few gigs currently in the pipeline and she's hoping to follow up ‘Wannabe' with more recording early next year.
'I'll be aiming towards either producing an LP or an EP, but either way I'll definitely be trying to release new material,” she says.
'The future is definitely about more hard work, but I'm quietly determined.”
