One person is injured after a truck rolled down a 100m bank on Pongakawa Bush Road this lunchtime.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash and motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says one driver is being treated for moderate injuries.

'Police are at the scene and it appears the accident has involved two heavy motor vehicles.

'It won't be a high traffic area but we are asking people to avoid the area if possible, especially heavy motor vehicles.”

The commercial vehicle investigation unit is being called to the scene as two trucks are involved.
