Her exhibition also falls under the 2014 NZ Garden and Art Festival which will be held in Tauranga from November 17-23.
This will be Anya's first exhibition in Tauranga and also the first time all of her 18 works will be on display in one room.
'I'm really happy with the works and happy to see them all in the one big room as there's a lot of them leaning up against the wall in my studio,” she says.
Originally from Langholme in the Waitakere Ranges, Anya studied at Elam School of Fine Arts before finishing her degree at the Dunedin School of Art where she's been based for the last nine years.
She has exhibited extensively across the country, including Wellington's Bowen Galleries and Dunedin's Artist's Room.
This latest exhibition takes its name from the 1941 short story by Argentine writer and poet Jorge Luis Borges.
Anya took 18 images of gardens sourced via Google search which she has altered to create a new image and meaning.
'I've used them as a starting point and then taken them in a new direction to construct a labyrinth of images of gardens,” she explains.
'In the show I have conventional gardens and really obvious dark mysterious wildernesses, jungles and dangerous kinds of places.”
Anya says each of the works provide an illusion in which to escape and the exhibition space is 'a room of portals which you can enter into”.
This Saturday Anya will be giving an talk where she will cover her artistic work, methodology and practice.
As part of the talk she will also discuss her interests in nature and its duality.
She says: 'Particularly with this show, I'm interested in nature's chaos and control; how it can be controlled and crafted into something.
'But at the same time nature is all powerful and unwieldy, you can't really control it. It's both of those things at once.”
Artist Talk with Anya Sinclair takes place at the Tauranga Art Gallery, on the corner Wharf and Willow Street, on Saturday, November 15, from 3.30pm
It costs $5 to attend and bookings are essential. To book your place call the Tauranga Art Gallery on: 07 578 7933.

I've certainly seen enough forking paths in garden's I've tended over the years so I'm looking forward to seeing Anya's exhibition. 18 seems like a lot of forking paths to me.
