Warming up to the Time Warp song under the hot sun, an estimated 100 cyclists are taking part in the Tour of Tauranga event this morning.

The 25km or 12km pedal from The Strand is a fundraiser for Bay of Plenty Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Event manager Rachelle Atherton says everything is running smoothly so far, with personal trainers from Life Personal Fitness warming participants up before they set off on their bikes.

'They were a bit surprised with the warmup. Everyone got involved and it was just something fun.

'It was to the Time Warp song and we just did star jumps, lunges, warm ups – just really basic stuff and it was really fun.”

Participants can relax after their cycle with a massage, or re-fuel with a barbecue and free Loaded sports drinks.

Rachelle wants to thank sponsors and participants for supporting the event.

'Without them this event wouldn't run.”
