It's 'better late than never” for Mount Maunganui band Super Narco Man who have released their self-titled debut album this month.
Describing their sound as 'blues sex punk” the men behind the three-piece band are guitarist Joel Burgin, bassist Matt Gibson and drummer Rik Gainsford.

The three musicians met while studying Music and Performing Arts at the Bay of Plenty Polytech in 2012.
Since then they've shared stages with Die! Die! Die!, Shoutin' Preachin' and Black Science, plus toured with the Penny Dreadfuls, Future Theft and Australian band Revellers.
Their debut album has been released through underground Tauranga label Savant Garde, an offshoot of Tauranga Music Sux, 'to absolutely no critical acclaim or commercial success,” says Rik.
'We're pretty happy man, I'm proud of the results and I think there are aspects I would do differently next time but then there's always something.
'You have to just accept it for what it is at some point and move the hell on. But yeah, proud of it, will try to push it farther in all directions next time.”
The bulk of the album was recorded at Mount Maunganui's Media in Motion Studios under the watchful eye of producer Jeff Kildare back in May 2013.
It took 32 hours to record the album, with vocal takes and guitar overdubs added in the months following recording. The album was later mixed by Damian Lunson also of MiM.
Rik says there was a hold up in getting the album mixes back which is why it was released this month.
'We end up mastering the album at my place in one night, but you know the old cliche, better late than never.
'Many thanks to those dudes [Jeff Kildare and Damian Lunson], the process was easy as hell!”
