Power lines were brought down on State Highway 27 on the Hauraki Plains following a crash involving a tanker truck last night.

The empty tanker hit a power pole 400m south of the intersection of SH27 and Mangawara Rd sometime before 7.30pm.

Police say when they arrived the truck was off the road but power lines were strewn all across the road.

SH27 was completely blocked between Managawara Road and Top Road for about an hour as the road was cleared.
