Organiser Claire Mabey says the theme on the day is ‘Worlds Within Worlds' to celebrate 'the kaleidoscopic place of the arts in our community.”
'Everything about the event is in the spirit of celebrating differences, the power of our imaginations and of the collective to come together to create wonderful environments for our people.”
Tauranga's artistic community will collectively bring their worlds to the stage with local dance groups, poets and theatremakers revealing their talents across the entertainment line-up.
The always-popular Little Big Markets will run alongside The Incubator's Montmartre Market, a French market celebrating 'the legacy of the chic, the bohemian, the charming and the cheeky”.
Keeping with the French flavour, in the evening Night Owl Cinema will screen ‘Amelie', a quirky tale that follows a young Montmartre woman attempting to better the lives of others around her.
Your eardrums will be tickled by The Cosmonauts who are coming direct from Russia, via Wellington, to play traditional Soviet folk music, mixed with mid-19th century Balkan pop and Italian chanson.
And if that wasn't enough The Daughters of Ally will their enchanting harmonies, powerful voices and sisterly chemistry to the mix.
To make the day even more wonderful Claire asks all festival-goers to take part by getting dressed up.
'There will be spot prizes for those who get into the spirit by dressing to reflect the Worlds Within Worlds theme.
'Join Tauranga Arts Festival and Friends for a celebration of the artistic worlds that make Tauranga a vibrant place to be.”
Worlds Within Worlds takes place at the Historic Village on Sunday, October 26, from 3pm to 10pm.
The Night Owl Cinema screening of Amelie starts at 8.30pm
