Papamoa's incredible run at the world surf lifesaving championships continued overnight, collecting two more interclub gold medals in the youth division.

Ben Johnston and Andrew Trembath led the charge in Montpelier in France, winning the board rescue title by heading home Jack Evans and Keland Phinnemore (Penybont, Wales) and James Carpenter and Charlie Haynes (Portreath, UK) in the final. It came just days after the same pair won the board rescue at the world youth teams earlier in the week.
Johnston and Trembath then combined with clubmates Mason Bryant and Jake Hales to win the Oceanman relay, with Portreath and Biarritz collecting the minor placings.
Johnston won a third medal in the Oceanman, where he finished third behind Australians Danie Collins (Redhead) and Joshua Brown (Byron Bay) and just ahead of fellow Bay of Plenty athlete and keen rival Ben Cochrane (Omanu).
"It was pretty tough trying to back it up this week after coming out of a massive campaign representing New Zealand in the national teams competition but having our Papamoa teammates and an incredible bunch of supporters here has really helped us dig deep and give it a good nudge," Johnston said. "We're stoked with our results and looking forward to continuing them in the pool over the next few days."
Papamoa lead the overall points tally after two days on the beach - an incredible effort considering there are only 12 athletes competing.
Mount Maunganui's Olivia Eaton also picked up her second medal in as many days, adding silver in the beach flags to the gold she won yesterday in the beach sprint.
Eaton was just pipped by Mooloolaba's Nicole Kay in the final, with Papamoa's Maddie Kidd finishing fourth.
In other results, Maia Bryant (Papamoa) finished seventh in the Oceanwoman, where she was one of the youngest competitors, and clubmate Natalie Peat finished fifth in the pool in the open 200m super lifesaver event. Midway's Chris Dawson picked up a fourth in the open men's race.

Wonderful Efforts Papamoa Beach!! We can be So Proud of Papamoa Beach Surf Lifesaving Clubs, and their International Teams! The guys and girls have done an amazing job of Preperation, Funding, and now Delivery on the Day! Medals everywhere, certainly ranks them as likely the Best Prepared Lifesaving Team in The World! And there are still more inter-club competitions under way! We should now be looking to a Civic Welcome Home Parade, or Reception at least. Our whole community benefits from the three Clubs in our city! Papamoa Beach, Omanu, Mount Maunganui. Bill Gibson-Patmore.
