IRG BOP's Jonathan York says it is too soon to tell what impact the Christchurch earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale at the weekend will have on domestic markets.
The government has announced relief packages for small business employees affected by the earthquake and also provided some certainty to the insurance sector by being swift and transparent with its funding regime through the Earthquake Commission.

Exactly how the disaster's impacts play out in markets generally affecting the entire domestic market is still unknown as all of New Zealand recovers from the shakes.
