Tauranga City Council is responding to the expected increase in demand for car parking space in the central city by making use of two parking buildings free on Easter Saturday and Sunday.
The Durham Street and Elizabeth Street parking buildings will be open from 8.30am until 8.30pm.
The flipside of this though is that the buildings will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
There are also some road closures in Tauranga over the holiday period.
The Strand and parts of Willow and Wharf Streets are closed from 6am on Easter Saturday until 7pm on Easter Sunday.
Grey Street is closed on Easter Saturday.
The reclamation car park on The Strand is closed on both Saturday and Sunday.
At the Mount, Maunganui Road will be closed from Salisbury Avenue to Pacific Avenue all day Sunday for the Mount Mainstreet Blues, Food and All That Jazz event.

How silly is the Council? There will be an influx of visitors right through the Easter holiday weekend, so why close the parking buildings on Easter Friday and Monday?? Where do they expect the extra visitors to park on these two days? Get real TCC!
