Tauranga West and Tauranga East, as well as Rotorua Maroon, won in convincing fashion to claim the top three places in the Tai Mitchell tournament, while Whakatane secured the last spot having banked enough points in earlier rounds.

Tauranga West take on Rotorua Maroons in an earlier game of the Tai Mitchell tournament.

West, who were battling a desperate Rangitaiki, were up against it from the start with defence being the early feature, so much so that at halftime it was nil-all.

Whatever the coaches said at half time worked for West, as early in the second half captain Ryan Bosselman scored.

Kiahi Horan and Ethan Swan were among the try scorers as West managed five tries in the second half for a 31-0 win.

Tauranga East also remain unbeaten with their only blemish being a draw against Rotorua Maroon.

The team has some very sharp moments in attack led by Logan Marshall at halfback, speedy winger Ethan Robb and creative midfielder Mitchell Irwin. The semi-final between East and Rotorua Maroon should be a cracker,
