Bay economy at two year high

The National Bank Regional Trends Survey shows the Bay of Plenty is experiencing its biggest economic lift in two years.
It shows dwelling approvals, employment, farm sales and lifestyle purchases have all increased in June.

The Bay of Plenty had the strongest national growth for dwelling approvals - 12 per cent. Across New Zealand, dwelling consents dropped 1.7 per cent.
Employment in the region increased 1.7 per cent, lifting the series to a three year high.
The number of farm sales in the region lifted to a two year high and lifestyle block sales were the strongest in nearly 12 months.
One indicator that did not show improvement was commercial building permits, which fell 6.2 percent to sit at a 15-month low.
In total, the Bay of Plenty recorded its third consecutive lift in economic activity, with annual economic growth lifting to a two-year high.
