Willow Street re-opened on Friday, but only for traffic heading out of the central business district.
Temporary car parks have been put on the council building side of the road.
There is minor finishing work still to be completed on the footpaths on the Masonic Car Park side of the road and at the pedestrian crossing areas at the Willow and Hamilton Street intersection.

Weather permitting, the final road surface layer is expected to be laid towards the end of next week.
Transportation manager Martin Parkes says when completed there will be a period before the buses move in, during which Willow Street is open and parking in available on both sides of the street.
