Tauranga City Council is reporting road works on Willow Street are progressing well with most of the service upgrades and road reconstruction complete. Its weekly bulletin reports the council is hoping to have Willow Street open to one-way traffic and some temporary car parking spaces marked on the council building side of the road later this week. The weather will play a major part in the timing and completion of this project.

The fence may be coming down on Willow Street.

This comes as some hope for retailers in the area, who have struggled with less business, from reduced foot traffic and restricted nearby car parking. Two shops on Willow Street have closed, with the second of these, Stoney Creek last Thursday.
